Philly & DC Trip 2011

Welcome to Washington DC and the Americana Hotel... which is actually in Arlington, Virginia. Close enough. Very near the Crystal City Mall and Metro stop.

We found some dude's name written on one of our pillows. I don't know who you are, Richard Soliwoda, but your presence haunts us through a remarkably thin pillowcase.

Off to the National Museum of Crime & Punishment to redeem one of those group discount deals I'd come across. This dude had been waiting a while and wasn't looking so good. I hope this wasn't the line for the restroom...

Apparently, I've committed a social faux pas of some sort. The punishment seems a bit extreme, if you ask me.

Ah, nevermind. It's all in good fun. Let's recreate heinous torture methods of days gone by, and photograph them to rememeber for all time.

Crap. Apparently, I spoke too soon. At least I kinda look like these other dudes. No one would pick ME out of the lineup...

Diane relaxes on her bunk in the slammer. Maybe she'll get released for good behavior... yeah right! :p

All that crime-committing made us hungry! Off to find the Fojol Brothers Indian food truck... This was a plate of their offerings for the day. Diane got the last serving of pumpkin!

My plate of Indian goodness. The food never looks that pretty, but this was some of the best Indian food I've had anywhere. I love food trucks!

Over at the Smithsonian, we browsed the uber-crowded American History museum. Here we have the Julia Child exhibit, which is nothing like the one in the movie. Huh. We didn't even get to leave a butter offering at the portrait of Meryl Streep.

Some vintage Muppets on display.

To borrow a Night At The Museum reference, the "thrones" of Archie & Edith Bunker.

This is me leaning against a fireplace, trying to look fancy and rich. I don't ever know what room this is or whose portrait is above my fireplace.

I'm only doing what the sign told me to. It provoked me.

Dinner at the Dubliner Pub. Either Jeanne or Preston convinced me to try Guinness, as I'm not much on the taste of beer. This experience did nothing to change my mind.

Rock star! Insert your own sunglasses reference here, be it Timbuk 3, Corey Hart, or otherwise.
