Philly & DC Trip 2011

Riding the Metro back into the city on our last morning. This would be the day to walk around and see various monements and things made of concrete and marble.

It's the White House from afar! This is as close as we got this trip.

Diane poses by the Oregon pillar at the World War II Memorial.

We were in DC during the Cherry Blossom Festival, even though the cherry trees were past their prime at this point.

The Reflecting Pool was under renovation, and had been drained and surrounded by chain link fence.

Apparently, past this point you are not permitted to do anything fun at all. No smoking, no hamburgers or drinks, no bicycles, no walking with sticks on your feet, and no... miming. Leaning into the wind. Whatever that last dude is doing.

The ghostly statue dudes at the Korean War Memorial.

Diane and the enormous Abraham Lincoln.

Me, in a more stoic pose, and the enormous Abraham Lincoln.

More less-ghostly dudes with guns at the Vietnam Memorial.

On the way back to the Metro station, we found the North Carolina pillar at the WWII Memorial.

A shot of me & Diane riding the Metro back out of the city.

We stopped for a meal at a joint called Thai Orchid in Dale City, Virginia. This be some Thai spring rolls.

Pad Thai, the generic thing to order at a Thai place, but always a winner. This one was very well done!

The last shot of this trip: Me, pretending to be in pain after sampling Preston's "Thai Hot" drunken noodle dish. I should've superimposed some flames shooting from my mouth on this bad boy.

After this, we meandered back home, with a stop at the Chic-Fil-A in Hickory, Virginia. Another place where you just can't go wrong. The End... :)
