Philly & DC Trip 2011

On our traveling day from Philly to DC via Amish country, we made a stop at Baldwin's Book Barn. It's a huge barn. Filled with books. This is the king of funky book stores.

This book barn was clearly built when people only reached a height of about 5 feet. Reminds me of the infamous Ephrata Cloister building we toured several years ago.

"...or Be Beheaded" this sign should read. This was a nice awkward step down into this room.

Holy poop! Looking down through this grate in the floor, I expected to see ductwork or something... not clear through to the floor below!

"Yes, I'm looking for some books... on books." I guess they really do have books on everything. Maybe even books on "books on books"?

America Online? For dummies? Yes, it is. I've been saying that for years.

All right, enough books! We're off to the Gap Diner in the town of Gap for lunch.

Heading to our favorite Amish bulk store. Something tells me we MUST be getting close now.

Yay! We've got another year's worth of bulk oatmeal! Hope there's enough room in the back of the Versa...

After lugging tons of oatmeal, we headed to our standard ice-cream stop... the Strasburg Creamery, featuring the world's tiniest doorknob!

It's ice cream! And it's delicious!

The restroom at the creamery. I'm gonna have nightmares about books for WEEKS, I tell ya... I just keep telling myself, "It's only wallpaper... it isn't real... it can't hurt me..."

Another score from the general store at the creamery. I always pick up a diet birch beer when in Amish country. Kinda tastes like carbonated Pepto Bismol. Delish!

Passing a rude, slow driver. Jeez, people... learn to drive!!! :D

No trip with Jeanne would be complete without a wine tasting. Here we are at Fiore Winery in Pylesville, Maryland.

The tasting of the wine. I'm not much on wine, really.

I did come out with a bottle of something that was sweet enough to be palatable.
