Philly & DC Trip 2011

We stayed on the outskirts of Philly and used the light rail system to get into town.

Being that our journeys are almost always culinarily-driven, our first stop... was Reading Terminal Market. Home of many tasty things that we'd heard about on Food Network.

I had to stop and pose for a shot with Philbert, the infamous money-hungry pig sculpture.

Diane samples one of the Food Network gems that brought us here: Bassett's Ice Cream.

Any restaurant that offers sporks as your utensil choice is all right in my book.

Diane stops by the Flying Monkey to snag a cute shirt... We had so many other foods planned for this journey, that we didn't actually eat anything here.

Of course, the must-have travel shot of me posing with something that says Hard Rock Cafe.

In the store beneath this huge honkin' guitar, a souvenir pin was purchased. What a shocker!

The low, pointy ceiling in the subway made me feel like I was in some horrible Indiana Jones booby trap.

Hey, it's that thing that we learned about in National Treasure... I mean, history class. Actually, I'm sure I retained more information about Philadelphia history from the movie.

Back at Reading Terminal Market for lunch, we had to try the roast pork sandwich from DiNic's. Had to. I'd say this sandwich alone was worth the trip. Yum.

My vote for the most interesting thing at the Market... chocolate molded into the shape of organs. They had brains, ears, lungs... but this tray of hearts and rats somehow took the cake.
