Welcome to the Carnival Triumph!

Day Five started out back at the breakfast buffet, after I hadn't felt well enough to hit up the dining room for breakfast. I magically regained my appetite once I saw this spread though!

Diane's lunch came from the New York-style deli in the form of this reuben sandwich.

I went for the "Taste of Nations" Caribbean... "Pepper Pot" soup, shrimp & calamari fritters, jerk chicken, fried plantains, rice & kidney beans, and Jamaican beef patties!

Diane also got a sampling from the Chinese food counter.

Back to the dining room for dinner, starting off with the awesome broccoli cheddar soup.

My mother's appetizer, which I can't recall. Looks like fried oysters, but I don't remember ever seeing that as an option.

My mom's friend opted for the classic shrimp cocktail each evening, so I finally snagged a photo.

Our biggest food adventure of the trip... escargots! Not bad, considering you can't really taste them through the oil and cheese. :)

My salad selection was this melon-laden offering.

Still on the shrimp and seafood kick, my mom ordered this shrimp-y creation.

My mom's friend had been waiting for this chateaubriand the whole trip.

Diane's favorite dinner turned out to be this surprise... lemon confit topped grouper with cauliflower.

I ordered this veg entree because it sounded so strange, but it was great! Cinnamon, pumpkin, squash, yam & cheddar pot pie with polenta triangles.

Dessert was a standard, which I had never had... Baked Alaska.
