Welcome to the Carnival Triumph!

Welcome to Nassau! Diane poses on the cruise pier with the Atlantis Resort in the background.

Hey, there's a really big boat behind me! This was the first time I got to rock my prescription sunglasses.

This was the first opportunity I had to take a nice, full shot of the ship.

This sign welcomed us to Nassau, and once we finally made it through the cruise complex, all the shops, and past the taxi stands, having turned down ten offers for taxi rides, we were grateful to be welcomed.

I ran into this loco toad over by Senor Frogs, and decided that I should take a photo with him. I told him to look at the camera, but I don't think he got the message.

Plan for the day: buy a day pass for the beach and pools at the British Colonial Hilton.

We learned that the day passes were not, in fact, $15 like we had read online. But we did get a good deal, which included a food credit at their restaurant.

Diane goes into beach mode and prepares to relax on the white sands of Nassau. We did go into the water, but since the camera is not waterproof, we don't have any shots of that portion of the day.

After having an amazing swim in the turquoise waters, my sandy feet chill in a beach chair and relax.

Diane attemps to collect some rays of sun on her face and arms, but since we used something like SPF 45 sunblock, there wasn't too much danger there.

I noticed a strange object embedded in this post by my beach chair, and it turned out to be someone's phone number written on a piece of paper that had been folded and crammed in a little crack. I put it back where I found it for future beachgoers to discover.

After a dip in the pool, I reclaimed my shirt and decided it was time to get in the shade and grab some grub.

Diane tries conch fritters for the first time. There wasn't a whole lot of conch in them, but they were quite good.

Preparing to leave the hotel, we decided to snap some photos in the lobby. Here, Diane climbed this staircase just so she could pretend that she was about to descend it grandly.

Back on the streets of Nassau, we came across a Tortuga rum cake store! This dude out front insisted that I take a picture with him before he'd let us go in. I asked him if he had a twin on Grand Cayman, but he pretended not to hear me. Funny.

Diane & I decided that we simply must partake of a couple of small rum cakes, and ended up buying a Coconut and a Pineapple flavor. The cashier gave me two Bahamian cents back as change instead of US currency, but I thought that was nifty. We had also gone to a Del Sol shop, where we didn't realize they were closing, and they started locking us in and pulling down these big steel doors... scary!

Of course, we made the mandatory Hard Rock Cafe stop so that I can continue to expand my pin collection. Diane ended up with a shirt, and Cathy bought all sorts of things!

We found mom's idea of heaven, with her perched between two enormous ice-cream cones! Too bad this place was closed, as she wanted to have a picture taken inside the shop.

At dinner that night, our waiter Jose remembered that mom was celebrating her recent retirement, and brought her a chocolate melting cake!

After dinner, we hit up some karaoke. Here, Diane sings "Power of Love" by Celine Dion.

This would be me cranking out "Keep Your Hands To Yourself" by the Georgia Satellites.

This evening, we were greeted by some strange alien towel creature that none of us ever figured out. I think the general consensus was that it was a pig. Hmmm...

At karaoke, Diane was chosen to portray Madonna in the Legends Show later in the week, having to sing "Like A Virgin".

Diane's study materials. The Legends Show is put together every week from the top karaoke singers, with each one portraying a different legendary musical artist. Woo hoo!
