Hatteras 2007

On our way to Hatteras, we stopped at the Bodie Island Lighthouse in south Nags Head.

And of course, no visit to Hatteras would be complete without a stop at the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse in Buxton.

Our home away from home for the night. Sort of like roughing it... but without the tent. And you have electricity. And cable TV if you want. God bless KOA! :)

The boardwalk and steps down to our private beach access at the campground.

I came across this siren of the seas frolicking in the surf.

The next day, we decided to take the ferry to Ocracoke Island, home of the legendary pirate Edward Teach, better known as Blackbeard.

I decided to get into the part a little at the Teach's Hole learning center.

Of course, we had to complete the circuit of mid-Outer Banks lighthouses with a stop at the Ocracoke Lighthouse. I did discover that if you blink, you can easily miss the turnoff and parking (ha ha!) area.
