Hometown Tourists

Welcome to the Outer Banks of North Carolina! We decided to go play tourist in Manteo and Roanoke Island to see why people flock to our area.

Diane and Emily pose by a bench on a platform in the Rose Garden at the Elizabethan Gardens. Yes, Diane is wearing hot pink gloves since we picked a lovely February day to see the gardens.

Emily & Diane pose by the waterfront. I believe this would be the Roanoke Sound.

Emily captures Diane & I kissing in the old gazebo by the water.

Diane poses by a statue of Diana, Goddess of the Hunt.

Emily poses by another statue, but for the life of me, I can't remember who this is.

Here I am, showing off my strength next to Jupiter, ruler of the gods.

Have you hugged a tree today? Emily and I demonstrate our ecological spirit with this ancient oak tree.

Diane stops for a rest inside the earthen fort that was built to protect the settlement at the Fort Raleigh National Historic Site.

Diane & Emily get friendly with some stingrays at the touch tank.

Emily was hesitant to touch anything in the tanks, but we finally encouraged her to go after a starfish or a hermit crab or something.

We stopped in the Coffeehouse on Roanoke Island for a quick drink, and I ran into an old friend of mine.

Emily can't control the urge to wrap herself around this pole in this lovely gazebo overlooking Roanoke Sound.
