Phase Four - The Road Trip: Southbound
On the road again... I just can't wait to get on the road again...

5:31 pm - On the road again... I had missed the Salisbury sign on the way into town, so I figured I'd take a shot of this one and insert it higher up in the story so that it made sense. But it turns out I'm too lazy to do that, so these are all presented in chronological order.
7:10 pm - Back in Virginia, this large plastic rooster on a sign had eluded capture on film during the first phase of the trip, so Jeanne and I watched closely forever on the way back trying to figure out where this thing had been. I think the final shot was well worth our troubles.
Bored by the lack of intersting things to photograph and of the growing darkness outside, we hit another surprise raid on the inside of the van.
Here we have the first of two signs showing a place called Barrier Islands Center which is remarkably close to the name of the place where I work. I did much better capturing them the second time around.
This would be the second, and therefore the last, of the two signs. Despite the growing darkness, I was still snapping away out the window.
7:28 pm - A poor shot of the Virginia landscape and the sunset. It seemed much mure fun in person, as most things do.
7:45 pm - Back at the toll booth for the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel, I was determined to snap a picture of the toll lady. After we paid, and as she handed us our receipt, I got my shot.
An even worse shot of the sunset, already long gone, taken from the bridge.
This is a picture of nothing. No wait, it was a picture of the bridge curving around, taken from the bridge, but now it appears to be a shot of nothing. So this is a picture of the night. Yes. That's the ticket...
8:13 pm - Back in Chesapeake, and still possessed by the spirit of capturing strange people's photographs, we passed these ladies in their car. The kids thought they were pretty attractive, so we sped back up to catch them on film.
8:26 pm - America's favorite neighbor provided us with some wonderful all-you-can-eat riblets for dinner, and we opted not to get our picture taken with the waitress, since she was a bit older than dirt, and probably wouldn't have been amused.
Before we got called to our table, Sam poses in the parking lot beside somebody's Beamer to pretend, just for a moment, that he's actually cool. It didn't work.

The End
I didn't actually take any pictures on the trip from Chesapeake to North Carolina because it's fairly boring, and we see that all the time. All in all, a successful trip. Twelve solid hours worth of fun condensed neatly into 34 photographs. Not a bad job, I'd say. I hope you enjoyed sharing this experience along with us. And if you didn't, we don't care. We looooove our road trips...
